CHOON OF THE DAY: "WE ARE YOUNG" - Jolie Chérie

My favourite Parisian trio - the delightful Jolie Chérie are giving away their latest song "We Are Young" generously for free on their Soundcloud. "We Are Young" is a wondrously vibrant journey into vintage French Pop, oldskool synthesisers and sublime vocoders. Another flawless 1980's flavoured production from the underrated electro pop troopers, following the oldskool soundscapes of its predecessor - the charming "Où Tu Veux" featuring Valli. Bravo Melina, Samir et Etienne you have me completely hypnotised again! Très très chic!

It sounds like a perfect moment to remind ourselves about Jolie Chérie's lush Balearic rendition of Kavinsky's cult single "Nightcall". A masterpiece of a remix in my books:

CHOON OF THE DAY: "WHITE LIGHT" - Shura [Video] + Gabe Gurnsey Factory Floor Remix

Shura returned with her epic synth-pop odyssey "White Light" earlier on this month and now her single receives a video treatment directed by Noel Paul of That Go and starring her twin brother Nick Denton. In company with the ubiquitous "Indecision" and the 1980's balladry echoing "2Shy", this is Shura's 3rd excellent single in a row. I am looking forward to seeing her live at Electric Picnic later on this year. "White Light" is out 29th June.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "NO SLEEEP" - Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson returns in big style! The classy "No Sleep" announces the release of her 11th studio album later on this year, the first fully new material since "Discipline" in 2008. This flawlessly produced gem echoes some of her most vibrant ballads from her vast back catalogue, subtle reminiscences of "Any Time, Any Place", "Rope Burn" or "70's Love Groove" anyone? I am beyond excited about this album and Jackson's upcoming "Unbreakable World Tour"! Miss Janet on top of her game!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "YOU NEVER SHOW YOUR LOVE" - Jessy Lanza feat. DJ Spinn & Taso /// "CALLING CARD/MEZZANINE" EP - The Galleria

I have been anticipating new material from Jessy Lanza impatiently ever since I have fallen in love with her splendiferous debut album "Pull My Hair Back" back in 2013. "You Never Show Your Love" is a joint effort between Lanza, DJ Spinn & Taso and announces the release in the latest episode of Hyperdub's saga of flawless electronica singles. The song is a meticulously produced ethereal excursion into the future R&B soundscapes. You can pre-order the EP now on iTunes and download the song instantly.

If this wasn't enough for all the Jessy Lanza devotees, the multi-talented artist has also collaborated with the legendary Morgan Geist on his new project The Galleria which, as described in the official press release, "ripples with echoes of the indigenous music of long-dead suburban New Jersey shopping malls and NYC radio stations: bombastic freestyle, club dubs, razor-edits and bubblegum-pop R&B". Think The Cover Girls, D'Train, Zapp, Jody Watley, Shannon or Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. A much more oldskool, dancefloor-friendly sonic territory for Lanza confirming the Canadian electronic producer's vocal versatility and aesthetic unpredictability.

LA MURPHY SAGA CONTINUES: "EVIL EYES" [Video] - Róisín Murphy

The video for "Evil Eyes" - the 2nd single from Róisín Murphy's latest solo album "Hairless Toys" is out now after a few days of Instagram and Facebook teasers from the Irish Empress of Disco.  The sophisticated, retro flavoured video is self-directed by La Murphy herself, taking even more ownership over her art and career since her directorial debut with the astonishing "Exploitation".

"Appearing both behind and in front of the lens, Murphy gives life to one of the characters she created on Hairless Toys. Here she plays a housewife, trapped in retro-suburban mundanity and spiralling towards mental illness – all the while soundtracked by the lurching and menacing groove of Evil Eyes’ disco-laced funk." - we read in The Guardian which premiered the video earlier on today.

It's hard not to imagine and dream about a fully visual edition of the exquisite "Hairless Toys" where Róisín Murphy could turn every one of the 8 songs and 8 characters behind them into individual video pieces. Here's hoping!

Aji maji la taraji!

Similarly to its predecessors, the delicate "Double Talk" and the infectious "Deeper Shadows", the song tempts with Kalevi's unique vision of dreamy synth-pop sweetened by his signature medley of otherworldly vocals. CHOON OF THE DAY: "ATTRACTED" - Kartell

It's about time our favourite Parisian house treasure Kartell spoiled us with another solid portion of his reliably soothing positive vibes. "Tender Games" EP has just dropped via Roche Musique and "Attracted" seems like an instant winner among the 6 new compositions. First half of the release oscillate between slower, more chilled out, soulful grooves while the second chapter is all about those hedonistic, sublime, dancefloor-friendly moments.
