SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "PERFECT FORM" - Cyril Hahn feat. Shy Girls /// "SOMETHING ABOUT YOU" - Dornik

UK's booming new R'N'B and UK Funky scene has offered us a lot of thrills the past few months. Following the spectacular stream of excellent singles by Jessie Ware, T. Williams, Disclosure, Julio Bashmore and others we are being bombarded with two more fabulous tracks this week coming from the blossoming PMR Records. Swiss Dj Cyril Hahn was on everyone's lips a while ago for his superb remix of Destiny's Child's "Say My Name" which gave the R'N'B classic a completely fresh twist. Now he's back with "Perfect Form" a heavenly melodic and lavishly layered piece dripping with soulful vibes. The second tune comes from Dornik, a guy some of you Jessie Ware devotees out there may know from her live gigs where he sometimes would step into Sampha's shoes to perform their cult duet "Valentine". "Something About You" was love at first listen last week. Just a divine mélange of oldschool and neo soul, easily among the hottest songs out there. Counting down the days for both releases to drop.

SHREM'S GUILTIEST OF PLEASURES... VOL. 34: "CRAZY LOVE" + "HIT BY LOVE" - Ce Ce Peniston

I do love my late 80's and early 90's divas. Crystal Waters, Caron Wheeler, Mica Paris, Lisa Stansfield, Betty Boo, Neneh Cherry, Shara Nelson, Tara Kemp, Kym Sims you name it, I've got them all in my music library... There's also Ce Ce Peniston whose first 2 oldskool house flavoured pop records I cherish until today. Here are 2 of her lesser known singles that I've had on loop this week for some strange reason. Maybe it's down to the Pride week here in Dublin?

CHOON OF THE DAY: "PHOENIX" - Kill J

Ok so what we know about the mysterious Kill J so far is as follows. She's Danish. She has the most unusual haircut since Jay Jay Johanson in his "Antenna" hey-days. She has a "one in a million" kind of voice with a goosebumps-causing vibrato. Her first song "Phoenix" sounds like the most sophisticated, the most subtle and the most intriguing 3 minutes of music released so far during this magnificently fruitful year that is 2013.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "BRING THE NOIZE" - M.I.A. [Video]

Here's the new video for one of this year's most uncompromising singles "Bring The Noize" from M.I.A.. The track was produced by Switch and Surkin. Arulpragasam's 4th album, "Matangi" is due out this fall on N.E.E.T./Interscope.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "ON MY BRAIN" - Peter & The Magician feat. Sophie Galpin

A couple of weeks ago I was bidding farewell to the sunny Primavera Festival in Barcelona dancing my socks off to The Magician's set. Hearing this song then for the first time left me exhilarated. "On My Brain" has that unique immense power of an immediate dancefloor anthem! While losing myself in the dancing frenzy I was also trying to type in some of its lyrics on my phone as at that euphoric time and place I simply couldn't even imagine living without it. The mystery is finally resolved. This house stomper comes from Peter & The Magician, a collaborative side project of the Belgian dj and Yuksek. I was waiting impatiently until midnight last night to purchase it straight away so I could wake up to it this morning as well. This song is love. Out now via Partyfine!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "WAVES" - Branko feat. Roses Gabor

Branko, 1/4 of Buraka Som Sistema - Lisbon legends of kuduro, has released his "Time Out" EP about 2 weeks ago. The title track is accompanied by this energy fused collaborative effort with the flawlessly talented Roses Gabor. "Waves" doesn't come as a surprising joint effort considering Miss Gabor already featured on one of Buraka Som Sistema's anthems "(We Stay) Up All Night" which you can also listen to below. Climbing up really fast on my personal chart, "Waves" is one of the best tracks I heard this month...

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "U SHOULD KNOW BETTER" - Robyn feat. Snoop Dogg

Who would have thought we would still receive another video from Robyn's epic "Body Talk" trilogy. Well here it is, "U Should Know Better" featuring the one and only Snoop Dogg, a perfect weekend treat!

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "BRING THE NOIZE" - M.I.A.

Just in case you haven't heard it yet here's a brand new berserk single from the unstoppable M.I.A. Arulpragasam. This uncompromising explosion of beats, samples and chopped vocals made me even more excited about the artist's most anticipated 4th solo album "Matangi". This girl just always delivers. Brazen, rebellious and in an ace form!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "FACE LOVE ANEW" - Stereogamous feat. Shaun J. Wright + The Miracles Club /// "LUVVBAZAAR (Shaun J. Wright and Alinka Twirl Remix) - SSION

"Face Love Anew" from the collaborative effort between the velvet voiced Shaun J. Wright and Sydney based queer dj's Stereogamous was one of my top tunes in 2012 and ended up in top 20 of my annual ranking of the best tracks of the year. This is the debut collaboration of the biggest names in the counterculture queer music scene. Inspired by the amazing live vocals from the birth of disco (reminiscent of Sylvester and Patrick Cowley dance tracks) combined with Chicago House, "Face Love Anew" is an ode to the musical past and with an arrow pointed into the future. I am re-visiting this phenomenal piece of house music since we've now also been graced with an official video for it. It's a great opportunity to also re-play the best of the whole bunch of remixes of the tune, made by the one and only The Miracles Club. Stereogamous with Shaun J. Wright are opening for SSION in Berlin 20th June at Festsaal Kreuzberg, now that's what you call a dream concert team. Wish I could be there too. It also makes perfect sense to share Shaun J. Wright and Alinka's (of Twirl Chicago) flamboyant remix of SSION's "Luvvbazaar" while we're at it. Fabulousness overdose!!!

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "JACK" - Breach

"Jack" has #1 in UK written all over it. After the enormous commercial success of the likes of Disclosure or Duke Dumont, I really wouldn't be surprised if this big tune by Ben Westbeech under the alias of BrEaCh would become another massive dancefloor anthem of 2013. This hilarious and brilliantly clever video will certainly help its popularity too. "Jack" featuring remixes from Calibre and Mak & Pasteman is out 14th July. This may really become huge...

SHREM'S LIST OBSESSION: Top 10 Deerest Goldfrapp Rarities

With the exhilarating announcement from Goldfrapp about the arrival of their 6th studio album "Tales of Us" and the teasers promising a sonic journey similar to their phenomenal cinematic debut "Felt Mountain" I am all over Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory again. CHOON OF THE DAY: "THE ATTIC" - Colm K. feat. Walshy

Following my arrival back on Irish soil from fun and sunshine filled Sónar Festival in Barcelona it makes sense to catch up with blogging with a local treat with a sunny vibe. This Herbie Hancock and Floating Points influenced slice of modern funk from Cork based dj and producer Colm K swept me off my feet instantly. "The Attic" is one of 4 electronic jewels included on his new EP "The Love" which is out now via Bastard Jazz Recordings. A fusion of all sounds delicious. Big up!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "STRANDBAR EP" - Todd Terje

One can never have enough of Norwegian dance music right? Following the post about the fruitful synth-pop collaboration between Annie and Ralph Myerz, I'd like to share Todd Terje's latest single "Strandbar" which is just oozing summer vibes and sunshine from everywhere, including the EP's artwork. This will get me right in the mood for Terje's performance with Lindstrøm at the opening day of Sónar Festival in Barcelona. Choose between samba or disco version of the track below and let the ☼shine.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "TAKE A LOOK AT THE WORLD" - Ralph Myerz feat. Annie

It's just heartwarming to have Annie back isn't it? The oh-so-very-long anticipated come-back single of the Norwegian pop princess "Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts" inspired me to create THIS list last month. This time around Annie Strand spoils us with "Take A Look At The World", a collaborative effort with her compatriot Ralph Myerz to an astounding, undeniably anthemic synth-pop moment. And to think both artists come from the same city of Bergen and both have been making music since late 90's and they waited that long to join artistic forces. In addition the track's co-produced by the wizards of electronica Röyksopp which makes it an absolute dream team of a Norwegian dance scene. "Take A Look At The World" is out worldwide on 25th June.

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "BB BLEU" - Kid A + Remixes

Believe it or not Kid A's artistic pseudonym apparently didn't initially come from the title of Radiohead's masterpiece. Growing up on her grandad’s old jazz records Ann Alexander Thweatt would rather listen to Ella Fitzgerald or Serge Gainsbourg although she did eventually turn to electro music before dabbling in technology to create beats and loops. "BB Bleu", co-produced by Agoria, is a lavish excursion into moody electronic soundscapes with a soulful twist. The song is practically unclassifiable as a whole and manages to escape any comparisons as it simply doesn't sound quite like anything I heard in 2013 so far. The single including highly praised original demo of the song + remixes is available now via Technicolourmusic.
