Crème de la crème: MARCH 2011

20 (N) - "Horrors of Love" - Ryskee feat. Jenny Wilson - this month's number one leftfield treasure, you couldn't expect anything less bizarre from Miss Jenny Wilson herself though...

19 (N) - "Neli" - Ichisan - sparkling piece of Italo Disco pure joy courtesy of the fabulous "CockTail d'Amore" EP!

b2 Ichisan - Neli snippet by Cocktail d'Amore

18 (N) - "Birthday (Llorca Remix)" - Nuno Dos Santos & TJ Kong feat. Nicolette - no other track in Nicolette's vast list of collaborations ever sounded so housey... Groove is in their hearts this month!

17 (N) - "Tailor-made" - Daedelus - One of those unclassifiable singles out there, it stole my heart (and my ears!) instantly + Floating Points remix is epic too!

Tailor-Made (featuring Milosh) by Daedelus

16 (4) - "White Horse" - Jessica 6 - watch the ultra-sexy Nomi Ruiz in this glossy video HERE!

15 (N) - "Don't Waste Your Light On Me" - Nottee - low key release in bouncy rhythm by Sweden's well kept secret

14 (N) - "Que veux-tu" - Yelle - delighted Yelle's releasing this as their new single as the previous one "Safari Disco Club" didn't score many points in my books...

Que veux-tu by YELLE

13 (3) - "Saké" - Jupiter - out of top 10 this month but the juicy bunch of fresh remixes by Anoraak, Para One & Tacteel & Hannulelauri among others is truly appetising! Have some
!

12 (N) - "Sin Oficio" - Systema Solar - Colombian bomb of positive energy and irresistible beats that rocked the dancefloor at our b*day partee courtesy of my dear friend Alva - gracias!

05 Sin oficio by systemasolar

11 (8) - "Do You Need Someone" - Beth Ditto

10 (N) - "Still Sound" - Toro y Moi - as tasty as the review written by my music guru Piotrek - NoSnobsAllowed - Czarnecki

09 (N) - "Crazy For You" - Designer Drugs feat. Annie - while anticipating some fresh material from my favourite Norwegian, here's a brand new collaboration with the enigmatic French act Designer Drugs...

08 (7) - "More Than Seven" - FCL

07 (N) - "Painted Eyes" - Hercules & Love Affair - this will be the next single taken off their 2nd outing "Blue Songs"... And it quite possibly is the strongest song on the entire LP. The production is so sleek!

06 (RE) - "Closer" - Kylie Minogue - loved the show and re-fell in love with this gem of a pop song from "Aphrodite". Like the idea of the fan-made artwork as it most possibly will never be released as a single.

05 (RE) - "Boadicea" - Mason Feat. Róisín Murphy - this enchanting piece of synth pop reminds of La Murphy's "Pandora" produced by Richard X a little bit, which is totally a good thing. Oh how I adore this woman!!!

04 (N) - "Do You Believe? (James Curd Vocal Mix) - Poolside - when remix is hotter than the original, on the loop on my i-Tunes - see for yourself...

03 (1) - "I Wrote The Book" - Beth Ditto - 3 months in a row in top 3 YEAH!
02 (N) - "Abracadabra" - Brown Eyed Girl - the catchiest K-Pop song in months! This makes me wanna dance every single time!
01 (N) - "Chocolate Black Leather" - Ajello feat. Hard Ton - Grazie di cuore Fabrizio Tavernelli & Luca Roccatagliati aka Ajello with the exquisite guest appearance by the one and only Hard Ton for coming up with this mighty dancefloor anthem - one of this year's hottest singles by far!!!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "THE ONLY THING" - TokyoStreetGang

Back after short but sweet holiday in Sweden. Apologies for not posting anything new for almost a week!!! Let's start catching up with some fresh nu-disco blood from NZ. Thank you so much Jason for always keeping me up-to-date with what's happening in NZ. What a catchy tune!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "CRAZY FOR YOU" - Designer Drugs feat. Annie

My favourite electro princess from Bergen, Annie returns featuring on this catchy single by Designer Drugs. This collaboration makes perfect sense since DD provided one of the remixes for Miss Strand's sensational "Anthonio" a while back (see the soundcloud below). What a perfect addition to Annie's colourful catalogue of some of this planet's freshest synth-pop anthems. Especially for all the "Anniemals" out there :-)

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "DO YOU BELIEVE" - Poolside + James Curd Remix

One of the exclusives on Beatport this week. What a summer anthem in the making! Personally I find James Curd's remix even tastier! Sun shines better with Poolside!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "LADY LUCK" - Jamie Woon + Royce Wood Junior Remix

The official video for Jamie Woon's sensational "Lady Luck" has just dropped. It's hard to come up with anything creative remix-wise when the original version is such a superb track, the mix below however does the magic big time. This is the sound of the future R'N'B! Oh yeah and the sound encyclopedia would have a sample of Jamie Woon's vocals under the "velvet voice" term...

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "YOUNG LOVE" - Janet Jackson

Still can't quite believe I will be admiring Miss Jackson live at Royal Albert Hall in June... "Young Love" is such a delicious track! It was Janet's very first single back in 1982... As you can easily imagine in the whole excitement of seeing one of my biggest idols live for the very first time, I shall be digging into Janet's spectacular catalogue of 71 (!!!) singles quite a lot in the following weeks...

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "FOREVER NO MORE" - Hard Ton /// "OPEN YOUR HEART" - Madonna

Madonna tribute videos are so in right now. First Aguilera paid hommage to "Express Yourself" in her "Not Myself Tonight" video, then recently Beth Ditto portrayed her anthemic single "I wrote the book" in the style of "Justify My Love"... Now it's time for the nu-disco queen extraordinaire Hard Ton and his fantabulous and super-camp rendition of La Ciccone's "Open Your Heart" in his brand new video for "Forever No More"...

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "BIRTHDAY (LLORCA REMIX)" - Nuno Dos Santos & TJ Kong feat. Nicolette

The sun is shining on the dancefloor boys and girls!!! One of my most beloved female vocalists Nicolette features on this stomper of a single by Nuno Dos Santos & TJ Kong. Nicolette provides her haunting vocals on one more track on their latest album, do check out "Something Happened" as well... This Llorca remix is just pure summer anthem!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "뻑이가요 (KNOCK OUT)" - GD & TOP

The styling in this video is just phenomenal. Music-wise it's a weirdly catchy Korean take on a bit of old school Missy Elliott... It's the high budget ultra-flamboyant video (the fashion!!!) vs the hypnotic and quite minimal production of the actual track. It's on a constant loop on my i-choons this week. South Koreans are so hot right now! P.S. In this particular case literally hot ;-)

SHREM'S ACADEMY OF ALL TIME BEST SINGLES: MACHINE GUN - Portishead

This is not just a song. This is a statement of a song. An industrial symphony. This single was bound to be spectacular since Beth Gibbons & co were just returning after a decade-long hiatus... This sends goosebumps all over my body from the very first second till the last one. Epic!

SHREM'S WORLDLY DELIGHTS: "ABRACADABRA" - Brown Eyed Girls

I'm getting seriously addicted to the Korean girl bands... I can't help myself, South Korea releases the catchiest pop singles of the past year or so... First Girl's Generation, then 2NE1 and now Brown Eyed Girls - über-catchy!

LA MURPHY SAGA CONTINUES: "BOADICEA" with Mason - the official relase

Finally after months and months of teasing "Boadicea" is officially out, exclusively on Beatport it comes with a whole generous bunch of 9 (!!!) remixes. This is a great addition to her long list of guest appearances (Handsome Boy Modelling School, Boris Dlugosch, The Crookers, The Psychedelic Waltons, Spook, The Revolution...) and just weeks before Toddla T releases "Cherry Picking" with Róisín on vocals as well... What a great treat to all the die-hard fans like me, craving new Murphy "disco blood" all the time...

Mason featuring Roisin Murphy - 'Boadicea' by Mason

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: Saké - Jupiter

I love pretty much everything that Jupiter released so far, from their jolly remixes for Anoraak and Metronomy to their very own singles "Starlighter", "Vox Populi" and now the brand new and very tasty "Saké"... The boy/girl duo from Paris "deliver vintage-flavored lazer-disco songs that would be on heavy rotation on every radio station in a better world" as someone accurately described them on last.fm. The mixes come from In Flagranti and Hannulelauri among others.
